RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Senior middle hitter Zoey Sparks was named the Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week for week seven, announced on Monday.

It's the fourth time this season a Bulldog has been a GAC Player of the Week and the second straight week the defensive honor has gone to a Bulldog after Samantha Kuzma earned it in week six. This is Sparks' first player of the week nod of her career.

Sparks (Canyon, Texas) had a solo block in all three matches a week ago and totaled 12 blocks for the Dawgs who extended their team winning to streak to eight games in the process. Against top-ranked Harding, she hit .400 for the second time this season and tallied a season high 14 kills while racking up seven blocks to help SWOSU claim sole possession of first place in the conference with a 3-1 win. Her 1.02 blocks/set leads the team.

SWOSU wraps up non-conference play at home on Tuesday (Oct. 22) against Midwestern State before welcoming Henderson State and Ouachita to town later in the week.
